A little boy turning one, gorgeous day in Legacy Park and two proud parents who survived the first year of parenthood…
Words can't even describe my love and adoration for this little family! Amanda and Jack made their way into our lives years ago when we shot their wedding just a few weeks after we ourselves got married (we cried like babies behind the camera)! Since then we have popped back into eachothers lives through photography classes, running into eachother and raising little girls together! I was so excited to hear they were adding a little boy to the mix and couldn't wait to capture another milestone in their lives.
For Amanda's maternity photos we couldn't think of a better place than where she said 'I Do' years ago, so we headed to Glendale Shoals to walk the very steps she did towards Jack on their wedding day but now holding hands with their sweet little girl and an adorable bump with their newest addition on the way.
I can't wait to meet this little guy and see Ella Jane turn into a big sister!
Two (and a half) years ago, when I was in the midst of shooting weddings every weekend and working full time, Tara and Spencer asked me to take photos of their first born, Luke. It was truly my first home newborn session and I didn't expect it to ignite such a passion for me and my photography trajectory. Fast forward to last week, they are now a family of four, in a new home with completely different jobs, living close to family and friends.
When I arrived last week it was a rainy and very dark, gloomy day which makes a home newborn session challenging. Tara was nervous days before the session about the rain, to which I assured her that it was one of the benefits of doing a home session. We settled in the nursery and Luke read books to his little brother and then played with his dad while I started snapping photos of their new chapter in life as a family of four. Ian was awake and taking it all in until the very end when he dozed off in big brother's R2D2 beanbag.
The dark and stormy day couldn't hide these bright smiles and sweet moments. I've loved watching Luke grow up, and now become a big brother, and I can't thank Tara and Spencer enough for letting me capture these sweet moments for them, and igniting a new passion two years ago. Congratulations to your beautiful family!
Jackie noticed Kyle in a meeting at work and immediately couldn’t concentrate on anything else. She noticed a Strava sticker on his laptop and she was intrigued…
Little did she know, he was just as passionate about cycling, fitness and the outdoors as she was and this was a match waiting to happen. Within a few weeks, she found herself finally getting a chance to talk to him outside of work and they talked for over 2 hours which was completely crazy for her when meeting someone new.
Things progressed quickly as they started dating and Kyle very quickly told Jackie that he could see himself marrying her, she felt the same way and talks of weddings and how they'd spend the rest of their lives together began.
They had a ring designed to feature a diamond from Jackie's grandmother's engagement ring and Kyle popped the question to Jackie's delight.
Now let’s fast forward to last weekend, when we were all together for some engagement photos... When we were planning all I could think about for two avid cyclists in Greenville was Tandem Creperie. Their motto "Better Together" with cute accents of tandem bicycles throughout was a perfect compliment to Jackie and Kyle's love story, and a common favorite for their weekend rides on the Swamp Rabbit Trail (usually following climbing up some steep mountains a few times). But Tandem was just the beginning. As the sun set, we traveled up to Bald Rock for some epic sunset photos overlooking Paris Mountain and Table Rock. Normally, these two would be riding up these mountains but I'm glad they chose to get glammed up and let me drive them up there for these special photos.
Thank you so much you two, this session was a dream, and so much fun. I can not wait for your wedding this fall!
Huge thanks to Cindy McGrath Make-up for making Jackie a glowing bride-to-be for her session!
At the beginning of this year I was itching to take my camera out and connect with people again! I couldn't have told you last January what an amazing journey my business would take this year, it was beyond what I could've imagined.
Clocking in at over a dozen families, 10 little babies and over 10 thousand, yes THOUSAND photos taken. It was truly a year for the record books.
I've boiled it down to an amount your scrolling thumb can handle and let me tell you... that was a difficult process because the families I got to see through my lens this year are just amazing in so many ways, I love capturing what makes them all unique and I can't thank them enough!
So cue the scroll, here is the best of 2017, in no particular order....!
